College to Host Vaccination Clinic Sept. 2

August 26, 2021

Wayne Community College will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic next week.

The event is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the college. It is open to the public. There is no charge.

“Wayne Community College is trying to do its part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said WCC Interim President Patty Pfeiffer. “It is clear that the delta variant is causing another wave of infections. In an effort to combat the spread of this virus, the college is providing this opportunity to anyone who wants to be vaccinated.”

Walgreens personnel will be administering Pfizer vaccines during the clinic.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine. “The public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality the FDA requires of an approved product,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock, M.D.

Anyone who would like to receive a vaccine during the clinic is asked to register online at http://wagsoutreach.com/ss/WAY333223. Walk-ins are welcome but will be worked in between those who have scheduled times.

Youth ages 12-17 are eligible to be vaccinated but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the appointment. Written permission and phone conversations are not accepted by Walgreens.

Participants should go to Room 161 (“Seminar Room”) in the Wayne Learning a few minutes before their appointment time to check in and complete necessary paperwork. They should also factor in a 15-minute observation period after vaccination (30 minutes for those with a history of allergic reactions).

The second vaccine dose will be administered on Sept. 23, also at the college.

WCC requires everyone on its campus to wear a mask when inside buildings and when appropriate distance between people cannot be maintained outside.
