WCC Receives Grant from NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission

November 06, 2023

Wayne Community College has received a $250,000 grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission (NCTTFC) to be used for an agriculture lab building.

“We are truly grateful for the continuous support the NCTTFC provides WCC,” said Emily Byrd, executive director of the Foundation of WCC. “They are committed to the success of the College, Wayne County, and agriculture as a whole.”

The agriculture lab building will provide hands-on learning space for students in WCC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources programs. It will also showcase training equipment for recruiting events and provide a space for summer camps for students to promote career exploration in agriculture.

Construction on the building is planned to begin in the spring of 2025. An estimated total of $2 million is needed to complete the project.
