WCC, UNCW Partner for PathWays Program

November 07, 2023

Coming soon in early 2024, it will be even easier for Wayne Community College students to transfer to the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

The new PathWays program, previously known as UNCW Pathways to Excellence, will provide qualifying students with a clear and guaranteed path to admission.

Students in this program will receive tailored communication and program opportunities. Additionally, they will be connected to a Transfer Student Success Coordinator who will work with them to create a transfer plan based on their interests and intended major.

Transfer students will also have UNCW application fees waived and priority status for merit scholarships and deadlines.

“WCC has been a long-standing partner with UNCW, and we are thrilled to see this partnership continue under these new revisions,” said WCC Vice President of Academic and Student Services Brandon Jenkins.

“We believe that the new PathWays program will enhance the transfer experience for WCC students as they seek to continue their academic journey at UNCW.”

Students who previously opted into the former Pathways to Excellence program are automatically transitioned into the new PathWays program.

“PathWays is a great chance for students to start forming connections to UNCW during their time here at WCC,” said WCC Director of College Transfer Advising Center Peyton Dawson.

“One of the biggest perks is guaranteed admission. However, this opportunity is so much more than that,” Dawson said. “Students who are interested in going to UNCW when they finish their college transfer degree will receive resources to make their transition smoother.”

Students who have not yet joined UNCW’s guaranteed admission program should complete the PathWays interest form, and more information will be provided once the new program launches.
